Lars Konermann

Dr. Lars Konermann is Professor of Chemistry at The University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. He is cross-appointed to the Department of Biochemistry. Konermann received his Ph.D. in 1996 for studies on photosynthesis at the Max-Planck-Institute in Mulheim/Germany. After a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC, Canada) he moved to Western where he rose through the ranks to full professor.

The work in Konermann's laboratory focuses on protein biophysical and bioanalytical chemistry. Many of his projects involve the development and application of new mass spectrometry techniques. He has published well over 120 peer-reviewed papers. Konermann is recipient of the McBryde Medal of the Canadian Society for Chemistry, the UWO Florence Bucke Science Prize, the CSC Fred Beamish Award, the ETP Ken Standing Award, the Fred Lossing Award of the Canadian Society for Mass Spectrometry, as well as several undergraduate teaching awards.

From 2004-2014 Konermann held a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. He served on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, and he was member of the NSERC Chemistry Discovery Grant Evaluation Group.
